reality is a sliding door

so I realize that I'm a bit hesitant in writing about my personal issues over at my other blog. Don't get me wrong - I aint tryna front, but I do leave the wonderful details to those who really would like to know.

Or for those who enjoy learning with an open mindset.

"Don't be so quick to judge - you may not know the hardships people don't speak of" - murs.

you may have noticed I drop quotes with the quickness. Some are inspirinational insights conjoured up by some of the greatest revolutionary people of our time, while others are from tortured yet sensitive poets aka emcees. I read like a fortune cookie because I know living is an artform, and I treat it as such.

I'm trying to learn.
I'm not trying to say I am without fault.
I'm honest.

One thing that baffles me ( yes..baffles. wsup now webster?) is when individuals create unecessary drama for themselves. I was sitting peacefully on my living room couch, tryna read for 109. T-unit was on the right. When our neighbors started actin like hooligans and this beezy downstairs starts yellin in the most incredibly annoying chalks-up-on-the-chalkboard type tone that my bloodpressure instantly accelerated. Yes I got heated.....

but it just reminded me - most problems that we have are trivial; most problems are those that we create for ourselves.

So free yourself.

it's a wrap

The Memorial Weekend is officially coming to a close, and I am momentarily retiring from the full-shift game. Friday (5-10pm), Saturday (10am-10pm), Sunday (11am-7pm), and Monday (11am-7pm. Counting Memorial Day's time & a half wage bonus, I made approximately $300 dollars this weekend.

Woo. But there goes gas, food, and yogurt (haha) & I'm breaking even.

It's cool though because I had fun. When work is less tedious, and you can complete your tasks with ease, you've developed skill. Oh yes. First off, lemme just say that babies are soooo cute! :-) Today there was a chubby lil fellow who ran into the break room when the doors swung open, and I had to chase him as he ran away from me, pacifier in his mouth and all. Yesterday another peachy-skin-toned dude was shoppin for shoes wit his mama (1 yr old or less) & was so cute too! Whenever I get bored selling shoesies to the regular customers looking for walking & running shoes, "dunks", and such..I slip into the kids section. Babies are soo adorable!
*sigh*hehe.

I kept telling myself I'd go shopping to the other stores after my shift,
but I get so tired I usually forego those plans.

On Saturday, after my 12 hours shift, I came back to the apartment and Passed out dude. Even though Charisse and Teresa were gone, and I coulda been lonely, I wasn't..

Straight working the whole weekend through.

But something's changed. Full steam ahead. There's something strengthening within me, propelling me, uplifting me, motivating me to move forward. I think it's God. But idk these days I'm so genuinely happy.
I'm thankful. I'm counting my blessings. I'm eating healthy. I'm acting conscious. I'm making good decisions.

Tomorrow classes resume, and I hang up my orange "Team Nike" shirt in favor of my white v-neck tee and notebooks. One weakness this weekend was that I didn't study (little time!) & I want (need) to make up for that!

9th week. Here we go baby. Here we go.

P.s. Lil Francine & lil2 anthony - ate dinner at Ten Rens/ Swirl. It was fun hanging out with them again! "holla back" we say.

I'm drinkin' tea.
ok i'mma peace out now.

Saturday, May 24, 2008

I'mma do one of those pointless posts that basically breaks down the schedule of the day & goes off on tangents..haha..lets go*

1. I still work at Nike. For almost 7 months now, you didnt know that? I'm still waiting to visit Niketown before I call it quits. Today I bought daddy swimming trunks & Elainne a pullover. I tried lookin' for a swimsuit for mommy [since mommy & daddy are going on a cruise to Mexico & didnt bother invitin' Elainne & I..haha]

2. The weeks are windin' down. After this here weekend, we're pullin into the ninth week of the quarter. I want to finish strong. I already filled out the paperwork at work for days off. Reason: "Finals week & graduation dates! :)"

3. Teresa told me Charisse & her are not subleasin' for the summer. That means no new roomates & more time at the apt over summer. Low key happy.

4. My love life is non-existent. low key. I'm over here listenin' to Isley Brothers "Living for the love of you"..that's some next level romance type sht wayyy too ahead for these dudes out here who emulate..lilwayne & whatnot. Where are all the classy, intelligent hiphop dues? likeforeals.

5. Our neighbor has a cute smile :-)

6. I'm dancin' more often now. Like aint playinnn' status. Try a lil Biggie, Big Pun, and Teedra Moses and I'll show you what's goin on..haha

7. I really do love Brooklyn.

8. Today I cooked asparagus and ate an orange. Also cereal, gummi bears, and flaming hot cheetos. Weird combo..i knw.

9. I'm paying attention to language and grammatical structure once more via spoken word performance and poetic expression lettin' out our unconcious dreams breath reality.

10. YOU MOVE ME. like the golden age of hip hop. like jeans that fit perfectly. like knowledge, truth, humilty. you move me like the Winter Olympics 2008. like gettin paid; gettin the grade. you move me like dance solid. rock the world. without a doubt. thudner in the sky. sunshine. you most definitely move me.

*NOTE* the weather is amazing. just last week we were rechin' temperatures of 100 and pluggin in our fans. This week the rain is comin', thunder is rollin, and lady's visitin' from Brooklyn are comin thru the Nike store wonderin where all the sunshine went.

Goodnight! ++

spanish lesson

si usted parĂ³ dudando mi amor para usted

todo estarĂa bien

(one fine day)

Monday, May 19, 2008

you absorb the impact
you soak the details
you filter the negative perceptions and release a concept that is only universal

The backspace key always gets play in times like these.
Times where there is little room for error or doubt.
Times where you just have to go hard
yet a little segment of your body retreats; an
internal coil of an unknown part

A whisper that gently speaks, "I'm not ready"

But before the airwaves envelop its arrival, the speakers blast.
In tune with the melody, doubt has been silenced.

Its time to get down &
back up every word you say.

Re-iterate

Derive true happiness through knowledge of self & thy surroundings. Alotta uncessary drama can be avoided by clearly seeing the true nature & intent behind actions - the overall purpose if you will. I find that if you have a clear sense of where your going, obstacles have no chance of stopping you.

The only person your really fighting against, is yourself.

Free yourself.

Step outside the box; draw outside the lines

So today is Sunday. Finally got my eyeglasses fixed (thank you Charissey!) Originally I was scheduled to work, but I switched with my co-worker so this Sunday is gonna be sweet, believe me. I have a group meeting later, at Rivera, but thats still a few more hours...

Late night obsessions:
Frozen yogurt
Heavy basslines
Brooklyn bullsht
Dudes who get shape ups omg..swing my way if you please, babyboy

thats what im talkin bout

We must ‘be’ before we can ‘do’
and we can ‘do’ only to the extent which we ‘are’
and what we ‘are’ depends upon what we ‘think'.

turbulent thursdays

for lack of a better word i'mma stamp today with the 'turbulent' flag; that is - having a chaotic or restless character. it's been a while since i've been swamped with so much work in one day & probably the most stressed i've been all year.

the night before i fell asleep with my right cheek on my econ 103 (macroeconomics) book and woke up in the middle of the dark at 3 a.m., only to realize that i had fallen short of my goal to study for my econ quiz. on top of that, I also had 104 hw due & two quizzes. I'm getting stressed all over again just thinking about it, but to put the picture together..I was wildn' out all day, multi-tasking, calling/texting, re-arranging sht but you knw..you give it your best shot & at the end of the day - be satisfied with that [revision: 5 minutes after I wrote this I realized that with proper preparation, you can tackle anything..to stress is uncessary]

And if not? live & learn - trial & error - walk & do

It's 9:51 I'm at my desk. The windows are open, the breeze is making its way in. The speakers are up.."moment of truth" comes on..tropicana lemonade is on my right..My white tee is rolled up, tryna be a tank..my black skirt is all wrinkled..I'm starting to relax.."I needed peace of mind but I settled for beats and rhymes"

YAY

:-)
YAY! In many ways blogging is therapeutic in a sense that you let out all that accumulated steam, and just say whatever is on your mind. What's even sweeter is when you know aint nobody gonna read it so your free to make no sense.
WORD LIFE!

Things I say alot:
"pshhh!.."
"how you gonna.."
"dude is.." (insert adjective here. for example: "dude is funny"}
"Sista fren"
"suck a dick" (sue me)
"sue me"

Things I eat:
-Fruit & Cream oatmeal (standard procedure)
-Special K Yogurt Cereal w/ Soymilk
-Yogurt, all flavors and mad toppings (sue me)

Today I woke up & the sun finally decided to come through the spot. Finally!
It's been overcast the past few days and somewhat chilly.
It's the seventh week, and there literally isn't a day that goes by that I, or my roomates, forget to mention the pressing time constraint in relation to our limited living arrangements here in Riverside. After four years, the college lifestyle is embedded and programmed into our lives; we've managed to assimilate sleepless nights into the constant school grind.
Today is a classic example of the days that I will dearly miss.
I had 5 classes, and two got cancelled, and I cancelled the other two myself (don't worry about it) so we decided to hit up Swirl yet again (sue me)

Of course, our current obsession is chicken tacos at Los Jilbertos so we had that for lunch too. We decided to erect a facebook group called "fatties unite" in honor of our shameful ways. Of course, we're all jokes for days yo. Especially Charisse and I. You get us going with our back to back jokes, and you've stepped into the cipher forreal. The lmao cipher that is! (intentionally sounding dumb)
Anyway we headed back to the aparment, ate, and watched a movie. Chilled to the maximum afterwards.

A nice little rest & we back on it.
Excuse me while I drink some tea.
A little breather and I'll be back on it.

Rawness

I like my wordlife blog better than yours.
Jk. I feel like no one reads this, thus everything is pure & unfiltered & RAW RAW RAW!

Random:
#1 Tomorrow is a Friday night and your girl will be studying. My roomates and I will forego the drankin' escapades in favor of knowledge attaining activites. Word life.
#2 Dang yo. I don't know what it is, but I'mma sucka for dudes in new era fitteds.
Not the annoying dudes who swear they're fresh, I'm talkin bout the low-key boy next door humble honey buzz.
#3 Did I mention I'mma sucka for 'honey' aNything.
#4 To estimate my overall expenditure at Swirl (local frozen yogurt joint) for the past 2 months: ($5/day x 5 x 7)= $175. shtttt that aint a joke. I need to refrain from sweet & delicious thangs.
#5 fell off with almost every relationship I've established in my college career. Those friendships that seemed to brighten my days in the past have turned into blurry memores. And for this, there is no one to blame but time. I tried to put her in a chokehold, but she's a tricky bee.
#6 Yo I feel like I can go on and on about number 2. Dudes are like my second sun.
It's straight up embarrasing how I admire they fire hahahah. SWOON.
#7 To balance everything out, let it be known that I don't like ugly dudes.

#8 Okay number 7 was not fair and somewhat harsh, yet take note that its 2:20 a.m.
and these are unfiltered thoughts. And with that I bid thee adieu, my late night studies are begging my brain for more.

We go on and on into the night cause we passionate like that.
Late! :-)

I hope I did well!

week 6

week 6 in your area.

It never fails to amaze me, how fast the quarter plays out.
Midterms are slowing down; I'm a the rate of one per week
until mid-May.

On Friday I had dinner at Life Cafe with Lil Francine & her Lil Anthony. We split fish and chicken steak dinners LOL, took pictures, was all cute, and had fun! I'm so thankful for Lil,she's soo nice & sweet! And she even gave me a picture frame that was designed for me, from last year's installs. They had Big/Lil Retreat the next day, so we couldn't go out too late (but we still managed to get Swirl haha).

Swirl is the local frozen yogurt shop that just opened a month or so ago YET
I am on the top 5 customers list according to the owner. Last week, I hit the place up Monday-Friday..my frozen yogurt addiction is so strong!..I was planning to retire in the upcoming week but around 11:30 a.m. today Teresa came home with a craving & told me to get ready..and of course I coudn't say no..:-)

Saturday & Sunday I worked.
On Saturday Charisse & I went shopping to buy a white budgie bird!
The little one is named Shiroi, Japanase for 'white'.
We left the apartment around 6 and didn't end our escapade until 10-ish.
Other items purchased:
-Oscar de La Renta 2-piece floral intimates
-V neck white tee (5 pack) FINALLY!
-popsicles
-Belt (Charisse)

On Sunday, APO helda a Stussy Sale event at Lot 30 and of course we took full advantage of that. Charisse and I spent over a hundred dollas, and baked in the sun.
Charisse cooks like a tomato while I get downwit tha brown. hahaha. Lil Francine was there too! I amassed a nice little collection of gear, ranging from two stussy-undftd fitteds, 3 tees, and a Stussy 'International' Blck tote. Good shtttt.

And Last night, as usual, I bumped my jams..just gettin' the vibe & mind right.
Next thing you know our neighbor Above (I call him that) knocks on our door and tells me to lower the music or he'll call the cops. Let me just say that I am NOT cool wit that. The second you tell me to lower my music, I gotta question our friendship. like freals. Whateva, I still like him hahaha.

p.s. I gotta study for my 109 tomorrowwwww.
